The Federal Ministry of Education has approached states, neighborhood governments and religious associations to leave on concentrated sensitisation so as to acquire more understudies on board its NECO examination.
Priest of Education Adamu made this known in Abuja on Friday amid the twelfth Edition of the ecclesiastical press instructions.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the National Examination Council (NECO) deferred the date of examination from April 13 to April 27.
Adamu, who was spoken to by the service’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Sonny Echono, said the deferment of the examination was required by the poor number of students that enrolled for it.
He said that a few states had as low as 200 candidates for the 2019 examinations.
Adamu included that up until this point, 69,568 hopefuls had enrolled for the 2019 NECO examinations into solidarity schools, while demanding that the service wants to meet the objective of 80,000 candidates.
The National Examination Council (NECO) is in charge of the lead of the National Common Entrance Examination into solidarity schools the nation over; hopefuls who enlisted in the 2018 exercise remained at 71,294 as against 80,421 of every 2017.
“National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) initially charged to hold tomorrow Saturday, thirteenth April, 2019 has been deferred by about fourteen days, the new date for the examination is currently Saturday, 27th April, 2019.
“Lamentable so to speak, the delay has turned out to be important because of solicitation from more than seven conditions of the Federation who have requested an augmentation of time to empower them to enlist more hopefuls.
“A portion of the states have under 200 candidates selected for the examination and in that capacity will most likely be unable to fill their quantity if not allowed the chance to enlist more competitors.
“Records accessible to me from NECO show that just 69,568 competitors had enrolled to sit for the examination, henceforth, the requirement for an augmentation of time for more enlistment,” he said.
Adamu said that the site for the enlistment would be shut on April 25.
He included this would empower applicants register upon the arrival of the examination, if they have made installment and acquired their PIN at the very latest the end date.
